Copper is a metal which has a variety of desirable mechanical and chemical properties, making it one of the most versatile and extensively used materials. It is a major industrial metal because of its high ductility, malleability, thermal and electrical conductivity and resistance to corrosion.
The high purity levels of oxygen-free copper enhance the properties typical of standard copper material, such as electrical conductivity, ductility, and impact strength. Due to these advantageous properties, oxygen-free copper anodes are used for alkaline and cyanide copper bath solutions.
Phosphorised Copper anodes produced from refined copper cathodes will result in a copper purity of greater than 99.90% copper, and copper phosphorus within a range of 0.04% to 0.06%. The Phosphorous content dissolves into the solution and allows the copper to be deposited on the plated parts as per the requirement. The right range not only controls the brightness but also saves organic brightener consumption. The phosphorous content also defines the grain boundaries of the copper anode to dissolve and prevent excessive sludge from forming.
